As a Squarespace website designer I love using plugins and code extensions to my clients’ online stores to add extra ecommerce functionality and features.
Over the years I’ve used lots of different plugins and wanted to share my favourite ones to help you optimise your Squarespace store too!

Why use Squarespace ecommerce for your online shop?
Squarespace isn’t just great for service-based websites, it also has some excellent commerce features to help you build a beautiful online store and sell products too. Here’s who I recommend this for:
You have a boutique range of physical products (eg. less than 150-200)
You’re selling simple digital download products or subscription products
You want to get set up quickly & easily and be able to update and add products intuitively yourself
You want the ease and flexibility of design and layouts that a Squarespace website is best at providing!

Add a custom upsell page
A great way to increase your value per customer is to offer an ‘upsell’ once they add a product to their cart!

Add a ‘go to cart’ message to buy now buttons*
Usually when a customer adds a product to their cart, it gets added but there’s no ‘call to action’ for them to actually go to their cart or checkout. Improve this customer journey with this plugin by Ghost*, which changes the ‘buy now’ button to a ‘done, go to cart’ button when someone presses it!

This plugin by SEOSpace* is a must-have for improving your Squarespace site’s SEO, with scans & audits that create a list of tasks for things you can do to boost the SEO of your product pages, for example.

Turn the boring variant dropdowns or selectors into eye-catching swatches with this plugin by SQSPThemes*.

Better product filtering & search plugin for Squarespace *
The Universal Filter plugin by Squarewebsites* is one of my favourite Squarespace plugins as it can be used for so many different things. I’ve used it on my own site and client’s websites for blog filtering, commerce filtering and more!
This plugin lets people easily filter products by category, tags, price and more, and the search bar works way better than the native Squarespace search function.

Display more summary block items plugin for Squarespace*
The Lazy Summaries plugin from Squarewebsites* allows you to load more than the usual limit of 30 items in a summary block (expanding it to up to 250!).
This means if you’re using a summary block to display your products, you can display 100s instead of just 30 (you might choose to do this if you’re using the Universal Filter plugin mentioned above as well!).

Custom cart slide out drawer for Squarespace*
This is a great plugin from Squarewebsites* if your customers typically purchase more than one item at once, as it means they can quickly glance at the items in their cart without leaving the page they’re on (which they would typically if they clicked the ‘cart’ button).

Squarekicker No-Code Design Plugin*
Squarekicker* is the ultimate Squarespace customisation sidekick, as it allows you to edit the design of pretty much everything on your site (more than what native Squarespace allows) without needing any CSS code.
For online stores and commerce, I love using Squarekicker as a quick way to customise product summary blocks and more.

This plugin from SQSPThemes* lets you display the exact stock level that’s left for each product.

Another great plugin from SQSPThemes*, this will allow you to easily add engaging videos to your product image galleries.

Countdown timer plugin for Squarespace*
This SQSPThemes plugin* makes it super easy to add an interactive, animated countdown timer to any page on your Squarespace website.

This SQSPThemes plugin* is so versatile! You can create an ‘on-click’ lightbox pop-up anywhere on your website, with any kind of content inside it. And this is especially useful for product pages where you can only display a certain amount & type of content in the description.
