3 Ways to Get More Organic Website Traffic

My top 3 ways to increase your traffic & get more website visitors viewing your content!

Have you just launched your new website but you’re struggling to get people onto it? Or perhaps you’re using social media and posting to Instagram, but you’re not seeing anyone go from your posts over to your website?

Having a great looking website is only half the battle - getting traffic to it is a whole new challenge! So in this post I wanted to share the 3 ways I get 1000s of visitors to my website every month.

Table of Contents

Watch this on Youtube or keep scrolling to read:

Why do we want more traffic to our websites?

Have more traffic on our websites means we have more opportunity for:

    • Brand awareness & visibility (more eyeballs on our content and people experiencing our brand)

    • Email list building and growth (more eyeballs means more chance of people signing up to our email list!)

    • Sales and enquiries (what we all really want!)

The caveat to this is that your traffic should be relevant and good quality. There’s no point in having 1000s of people visiting your website if they’re not the RIGHT people and they’re not actually interested in you or what you offer, because that won’t allow you to hit your goals.

Get traffic from Google with great SEO

Showing up on one of the first pages of Google when someone searches for a specific keyword or phrase relevant to you is the ultimate goal! But if you want to show up in Google, you have to do some work behind the scenes to ‘optimise’ your website ready for search engines…

    Conduct Keyword Research

Keyword research is the process of identifying the keywords and phrases that your target audience is using to search for products or services like yours. By conducting thorough keyword research, you can identify the terms that are most relevant to your business and incorporate them into your website's content.

    Optimise Your On-Page SEO

On-page SEO refers to the optimisation of the content on your website and how it’s all set up and structured. This includes things like adding page title tags and meta descriptions, and including your keywords & phrases in your headers and body copy. This makes it easier for search engines to understand what your website is about and rank it accordingly!

    Build Quality Backlinks

Backlinks are links from other websites that point to your website. Search engines use backlinks as a way to measure the authority, the trust-worthy-ness, and relevance of a website. The more high-quality backlinks you have, the more likely search engines are to view your website as authoritative and rank it higher in search results.

Getting good quality backlinks can be tricky, and time-consuming, but can be helped by creating high-quality content that other websites will want to link to, and you can also reach out to other websites in your industry and ask for guest posting opportunities.

    Create High-Quality Content

Content is king when it comes to SEO. The more high-quality, valuable content you have on your website, the more likely search engines are to view your website as authoritative and rank it higher in search results.

This is where blogging can be a great help - as I mention below!

SEO is a HUGE topic and the above suggestions are just an overview of what you can to do help your website ranking.

I’ve focused on using keywords to do with ‘Squarespace’ and ‘website design’ on my site and throughout my content, which means that when someone searches for a ‘Squarespace website designer’ or similar phrase into Google, my site comes up for them to click on and visit my website!

    Get traffic via blogging

Having a blog on your website that you regularly update with good quality, relevant content is great because not only does it help with your SEO (as mentioned above), it also gives you more content to SHARE on your social media and in other places too.

The more links & articles you share, the more likely your audience will see and click through to visit your website.

In terms of SEO, blogging can be amazing for this if you focus on writing well-researched, good quality blog posts that solve a problem for your audience that they’re searching for.

For example, I wrote my blog post about ‘How to set up 301 redirects on Squarespace’ because I knew that my target customer (newbie Squarespace users) would likely be searching for this in Google because it can be quite confusing. When they search this, my blog post comes up with helpful instructions.

I actually get lots of clients through this too, because me sharing this shows that I have expert knowledge on the topic of Squarespace design, and I promote the fact that they can ‘save time by hiring me as their Squarespace designer’ within the post.

    Get traffic from Pinterest

One of my favourite ways to get more high quality website traffic to my content is by using Pinterest! Pinterest works like a search engine (similar to Google), so works great for showing people inspiration and getting them OFF the platform and ON to your website (unlike Instagram and Facebook).

In order to get Pinterest to work for you you’ll need to:

    • Optimise your profile & set up Boards relevant to your niche and keywords

    • Plan what pages & content you want to link to from Pinterest

    • Create engaging pins that are optimised for Pinterest search on a regular basis
